Homework

In 5th grade, students should expect to spend around 50 minutes of focused time on homework a night and an additional 30 minutes on independent reading. The homework will reflect what we have been learning in class, and will help prepare students for the work we will be doing the next day. It is important that students complete their homework so that they are prepared for the next day's lesson. If you find that you have spent 50 minutes on your homework and you still have questions or are unable to complete the entire assignment, have a parent contact me to let me know.  There will not be homework over weekends or breaks! Have fun with your time off!

Homework Policy

1st missed assignment  - Oops: Sometimes things happen. Bring your homework in the next day, and we'll move past it.
2nd missed assignment - Uh Oh: This could be another oops, or the start of a pattern.  We will have a chat and come up with a plan together.
3rd missed assignment - I need help getting back on track: I will contact your parents so we can figure out the best course of action and how we can work as a team to support you. You will also have to check out with me at the end of the day, so I know you have your homework written down and all the materials you need to bring home with you in order to keep up with your assignments.
